Spongeball Hardness

The density (hardness) of the Luxx Ultra-Tech spongeball will not change when subjected to any type of cooling waters.  The velocity in the tube, the gap in the strainer and the screen angle should determine the spongeball's hardness.  For Ultrafiltration, the density should be selected on the degree of fouling and the age of the membranes.

Luxx Ultra-Tech’s spongeballs are available in four densities (hardness):

• Soft - 160 Kg/m³  (Only available in sizes 30mm and larger)
• Medium Soft - 200 Kg/m³
• Medium - 250 Kg/m³
• Firm - 300 Kg/m³

Choice of Density is determined by:

• Tube material
• Tube contaminants
• Ball diameter
• Condenser pressure drop
